Paternal age

Paternal age: The age of the father at the time he conceives a child. The present mean (average) paternal age is 27 years in the US population. Advanced paternal age is clearly associated with an increased risk of new mutations, a risk that rises linearly with the age of the father. See: Advanced paternal age.
