LUQ: Abbreviation for the left upper quadrant (quarter). The LUQ of the abdomen contains the spleen.

(By contrast, RUQ stands for the right upper quadrant, LLQ stands for the left lower quadrant, and RLQ stands for the right lower quadrant.)
